Beings from the Land of the Battlementals can use their powers nearly whenever they want. They have a stronger connection to the Elemental Plan than the human champions from Earth. As a champion you will need what is known as a Trigger. What that means is you will have to act in a certain way before your elemental ability will work.
The good news is that you already know your Trigger. When you took the elemental personality test you pick the trait that will serve as your Trigger. Just as a reminder, the traits listed on the test for Moon are: Quiet, Influential, Tricky, Romantic, Crazy, Negative.
Not only will you have to act a certain way in order to trigger your power, you will need to have a reason for acting that way. It’s not enough to just be quiet. If that is your trigger then you have to have an important reason for being quiet.
Now the really fun part—deciding which power is right for you. The elemental personality test included six traits for Moon, but there are many more traits that weren’t listed on the test. Find a second trait that best describes you. Then pick any of the powers that belong to that trait. That’s it. You’ve discovered your elemental power. Congrats.
DARK – this can apply to the way you dress, your outlook on life, or even your sense of humor. It can also represent your preference for dim light or dark colors.
Dim – when this power is activated, you can choose to dim the light in a medium-sized room or an area of roughly
20 feet in diameter. This will make things more difficult to see for people and creatures who don’t have night vision. A
great power for those times when you want to sneak past someone, left your sunglasses at home, or have run out of
sun block. You can make the area of dimness follow you—in case you need some shade as you walk.
Gloomy Gus – when you activate this power, you can select one or two people/creatures that you can see and their
mood immediately turns glum. A great power if you want to ruin a party, turn your enemies against one another, or
make it difficult for anyone to deal with the person who has been affected by this power. Once you stop concentrating
on making your victim gloomy, their mood will slowly return to what it was before you messed with their mind.
Night Cloak – while this power is active, you cannot be seen in the dark. As long as it is as dark as night, you’re
invisible. This lasts until you enter a lighted area or no longer want to be cloaked.
SHADOWY – this can apply to a dark spot within a lighted area, the shadow that follows you around and mimics your every movement, or even people and organizations that work out of view of the public eye.
Me and My Shadow – when you activate this power, your shadow separates itself from you and can be sent on
errands. The shadow can whisper messages to anyone within 500 feet of you, it can move to another area and return
to report what it sees, and it can even distract a person/creature. It disappears if it enters an area of total darkness and
cannot be summoned again for another day.
See No Evil - while this power is active, people/creatures will tend to pass by whatever object it is that you don’t want
them to notice. For example, you might not want a guard to check the monitors for the security cameras while you are
busy making alterations to a progress report filled out by your boss. The power will not work if the person/creature is
specifically looking for the object that you have obscured.
You Don’t Need to Know That – this power is similar to See No Evil above, except that it applies to information that you
don’t want anyone to discover. A secret can be cloaked this way for a day before you need to use the power again.
MYSTERIOUS – you have a knack for hidden things. That might be a secret that you intend to discover or a matter of keeping your feelings to yourself.
Secret Scent – when this power is active, you can actually smell a secret. The actual smell varies based on the kind of
secret it is. A good secret might have a smell that reminds you of freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies. An evil secret
might stink like your brother’s old socks. Just follow your nose to find one of those lovely, lovely secrets.
Emotional Mask – while this power is active, people/creatures will not be able to determine your thoughts or emotions.
They will be unable to read your facial expressions or tell from the tone of your voice how you feel. This may not work
against powers that allow beings to peer into someone’s thoughts.
SINISTER – this is usually bad. Villains tend to be sinister. Then again, maybe you’re a villain. Or you just might be interested in finding out what kind of powers your local villain has.
The Evil Eye – when this power is activated, the villain can stare into the eyes of one person/creature and scare them.
For as long as the villain concentrates on the power the victim will not be able to attack. Although, the victim could run
away, screaming.
Forked-Tongue – when this power is activated, the villain can cause one person/creature to believe a single lie that is
told. This stays in effect until the victim hears evidence that proves the lie was a lie.
Slippery When Evil – when this power is activated, the villain can choose to avoid an unpleasant situation. For example,
if the villain were surrounded by angry villagers this power would allow his to escape. The power can only be used once
a day.
STRANGE
The Creepy Zone – when you activate this power, any person or creature within ten feet of you will have an immediate
desire to get as far away from you as possible. That’s great if you want to be left alone, but not so good if you want to
be friends with them sometime down the road.
It’s Madness – when this power is activated, you can select one person/creature and change their immediate goal.
Instead of attempting to capture you, an evil henchman might decide that he needs to stop for some cookies and milk
first. Once the victim has accomplished his new goal, he/she returns to the original one. This power can only be used
on a person once.
That’s Not Right – when this power is activated, you can select one person/creature and cause them to be distracted
by something they can see. As long as they remain within sight of the object or situation, it will be difficult for them to
concentrate on any task. The power last for as long as you concentrate on the disturbance.
MOODY – feelings and opinions change. For someone with this trait those changes happen more quickly and more often than they do for others.
Fad-Tastic – while this power is active, you can sense the next fad when you see it. This comes in handy for those
who want to be trend-setters instead of a fad-follower. Unfortunately, it doesn’t tell you when a fad is over so you could
show up to an event unfashionably out of style.
That Was Yesterday – while this power is active, you find it easier to perform a specific kind of task. The problem is
that it changes every day. So while you might have been the best baker in town yesterday you find that today you have
a knack for solving mathematical equations.
Round and Round – while this power is active, you are aware of repeating patterns. What that means is that if you
wait long enough you can pick the moment that has the best chance to succeed at a task. There’s no guarantee on
how long that will be so you could be sitting for a long time before
IDLE
Relax – when you activate this power, you can select a person or creature that you can see to change their mood.
They adopt a more relaxed, care-free attitude that lasts for as long as you concentrate on the power. This can be
helpful for getting past those pesky security guards during a secret mission or for making your parents more agreeable
when they see your report card.
Surprise – while this power is active, you can surprise one person/creature, causing them to hesitate while they
recover from their surprise. This power will only work on an individual once a day.
Sloth – when you activate this power, you can select one person/creature and make them lazy. This lasts for as long
as you concentrate on the power and during that time the any physical tasks will quickly wear the victim out.
Garbage A-Plenty – plenty of food, clothing, and other items exist for the taking. As long as you don’t care where it
came from or mind looking through dumpsters. While this power is active, you can find the essentials in life like half
eaten apples, slightly worn pants, and mattresses with most of the springs still inside.
NOCTURNAL
Night Eyes – when this power is active, you can see at night as well as you can during the day. Similar to the way cats
can see at night.
Silent Night – when this power is active, you make no noise when you move—unless you want to. This only applies to
your footsteps and doesn’t prevent you from speaking or shouting. Neither of which are very silent.
Nighty-Nite – with this power, you can look into a person’s/creature’s eyes and put them to sleep. They will sleep in
whatever position they were in when you used your power and can be woken up normally, feeling refreshed and well-
rested.
POPULAR
Always Proper – while this power is active, you may act with perfect manners. You will instinctively know the proper
etiquette for whatever location or situation you find yourself in. And you will come across to those around you as
someone who is educated and cultured.
Life of the Party – while this power is active, you gain the ability to instinctively know what to do to make everyone like
you. At least, until the power wears off. They will still remember what you did and that may change their opinion of you
once again. It’s sort of like putting a lampshade on your head at a party. Sure, everyone thinks it’s funny when you do it,
but the next morning they are probably thinking you’re a colossal doofus.
Silver Tongue – when you activate this power, you can select one person/creature and change their opinion on a topic
or situation. For example, you can convince your teacher that you deserve an A for the semester or convince your
parents that you really deserve a brand new game console for your birthday. The victim of this power will accept this new
opinion until they are presented with evidence that it’s wrong and will then revert to their original view on the topic.
